Biggest ever Dragracing event in Denmark

When the gates open for Danish Midsummer Nationals on the former military airbase
in Vandel on Friday the 22 of june, it will be the the biggest ever Dragracing event in Denmark.
We have managed to get a round of the two biggest Dragracing series in Europe: Nordic Dragracing Series and Toyo Scandinavian Dragracing Series, says Holger Dueholm from Streetfire Promotion.

On initiative of Streetfire Promotion some of the best drivers in Scandinavia and Europe will present themselves on the weekend 22 – 24 of june this year in Vandel “and if this becomes a success, we will work towards a FIA/UEM round of the European championship in Dragracing”.

All of the tree Danish owned Top Fuel teams will compete in Vandel this year, Stig Neergaard, Rene Hersland, and Andersen Racing. Everyone is set to beat Kim Reymonds track record from 2001. Andersen Racing who has a habit of taking their drivers to the winners circle, will this year have the two time European champion Andy Carter on board in the drivers seat.

There will also be Top Fuel racing on two wheels when the Danish Team RCS with Finn Asserbo as Rider will present their two Top Fuel bikes. A newly acquired 4 cylindered bike, and the Honda CBX based 6 cylindered bike that the team has been campaigning in the European championship the last years.

Besides the already mentioned classes, there will be lots of other exciting classes for the spectators to look at. From the hot street cars to the fast Top Doorslammers that reach 350 kmt in about 6.5 sec on the ¼ mile

In addition to the above mentioned series Danish Midsummer Nationals will also be a part of the Dutch Explosion series and of course a round of the Danish Championship for both bikes and cars says Holger Dueholm. “ So I can promise you that this will be the biggest Dragracing event in Denmark ever”

“It will be a action packed weekend with racing starting on Friday at 14.00 and I will recommend the spectators to come early. There is free camping by the track, and with expected 200 + teams there will be lots of spectacular cars and bikes to look at. On Saturday evening there will be a big midsummer party with live band, so there is no excuse to stay at home” ends Holger Dueholm.

We, Merlin & Team, have registered for Super Gas yesterday and can't wait to visit the Vandel Raceway. Not only because the SuperGasChamp-Series will held their 2nd race in Denmark, furthermore we hope that a lot of other racers from Germany and the rest of Europe will find the way to the north and have a fantastic weekend in Denmark.
