eben mal gefunden

Meanwhile, in Houston….

The NHRA was hosting its national event. The sportsmen sat and waited in the rain all day Saturday without running. Then, Sunday, they were informed they would not be running at the event. They were cancelled. Tough break, right? You pack up your trailer and move on, correct? Well, only if you wanted to part with even more of your money. The sportsmen were forbidden from leaving the property and threatened with a $250.00 fine if they left because NHRA was concerned they would track mud through the pit roads. So not only could you not race, you could not leave. Drastic times sometimes call for drastic measures, but a fine for leaving? What's with all the sportsman fines lately?

Thorsten you make it look as if the NHRA are not going to let these sportman racers complete this event, I have been to many event where they have had to stop the event because of the weather. The NHRA have always found a way to finish the event, be it the next day Monday the following weekend or even at a different track. This is what they have done in this case moving it to a different venue as you can see in the link on NHRA.com.

Completion of Houston race moved to Dallas, will be run in two segments

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4/6/2007

With a threatening forecast looming, NHRA officials have decided to delay Saturday's planned completion of Sportsman racing from the O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals presented by Pennzoil at Houston Raceway Park. The racing will be completed in two parts – Comp, Super Stock, Stock, and Super Comp at the upcoming Texas Motorplex LODRS and Super street at the O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals in September.

Comp will run their final two rounds April 14, during Saturday's qualifying at the Texas Motorplex Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event.

Super Stock, Stock, and Super Comp will run Thursday, April 12, the day before the Dallas Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event beginning with a time run at 4 p.m. followed by eliminations. Super Stock, Stock, and Super Comp will all be random paired first round. Ladders will be generated by closest to the dial for second round.

Competitors who attended and withdrew from the Houston event can return and compete in the event at Dallas if they choose. Those competitors who cannot return are still able to withdraw by just not showing up.

Super Street will move to the O'Reilly Fall Nationals in Dallas, Sept. 20-23, and will be open only to those racers that were entered and attended the Houston event. No car or driver changes allowed.

Payout will be done by NHRA via mail from headquarters in Glendora.

Also as far as leaving the property, it has been in the rules for many years that the PRO's can not leave before the event is over and sometime the sportsman classes can not leave the event also or they have a different gate to go out. Now if that gate is unpassable you wait.

hi tony thanks for the reply
my oppinion is that the nhara is drifting away from th grass roots racers
in favor for the pro classes
i can understand that because the nhra is nothing more than a big company
they do have to sell tickets get sponsors and so on for making a living
and with the sportsmann racer there is no or very little buisness involved because nobody out of the 120000 crowd wants to see them
they come and pay for the pro classes
and the only reason they dont kick out the sportsman classes at once is there ares till too many involved in racing and too many are paying the fees for the nhra
i spoke with several friends i have in the usa and they all said the same ( they all used to race super classes in the nhra format ) they swithed over to the nmca nmra and so on they dont wanted to be jerked around any longer
the nhra will squeeze them out of the back door
just my two cents

Andrea
