I am moving to Europe soon, Germany in Janurary to be exact. Are there any dragstrips, dragways, or what ever they are called over there? I have a 2005 Ford Mustang GT and I would like to continue to run it on the track. Anyone know of any, how often they run, what they cost to run on, so forth. Thanks for any info.

Wiesbaden, Germany. So anyone know of any in that area?

Ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch, also kann jedermann antworten. Und dann gibt es babblefish.

Please stop me if I butcher your language.

Welcome James !

Dragracing in Germany is possible.
But not in January. Sorry,
You will not find an open track.

Regards,
Michi

FYI: But you are allowed to drive full throttle on some Highways :thumb:

Yea, I'm sure that there aren't any tracks open in Jan, but so long as I know they are still there and available to me. When is dragseason? Any other places other than Bitburg? Is there a website for Bitburg, I'm guessing it is at the old airbase.

A GI coming to germany and bringing his car over, to race it on some track............
Well, that´s how Drag Racing got started here about 40 years ago !
So "Welcome here in the virtual pits",
and I hope you find a "home away from home", even if it´s only 1320 ft. long sometimes.............:D

What kind of mods did you do to your pony-car,
and what times has it run on (which) US track ?
We have about the same sportsman classes here,
and race -95%- on NHRA rules.
There are various ET classes and Super classes running,
and there is a heads-up race series for street legal cars, "Street Eliminator"

I am the german track announcer, and live in Frankfurt.
You are quite lucky to get stationed in the Rhein-Main area,
because not only there is one dragstrip (Bitburg) within reach,
but also because there is a german/american Drag Race Club still in existence,
the "Hanau Auto Racing Association".
They don´t have a clubhouse, or a "local track",
but there is an "open house meeting" once a month near Hanau,
which is about 50 miles from Wiesbaden.

The "Pro Classes" like Top Fuel, Top Methanol and Pro Mod only have ONE race a year in germany,
called "NitrOlympX" , in Hockenheim, only 70 miles from Wiesbaden.

In this forum there is a chat giong on , each sunday evening from 8pm,
look for the "new chat" button on top left side of the portal page.

Greetz,
Benni

€dit to add : Bitburg page : www.1on1-motorsports.de

Season is short due to weather, only from April to October,
with the races from May to September.

Thanks for all the info. Here in America on diferent nights Friday-Sunday, Friday here at my local track, we have "run what you got" races. That means anyone can bring out anything, and race it against what ever. I pay $20, about 15 Euro, and I go to the track, it opens at 6 PM, and stays open till about 11 PM so 5 hrs. You can run as many passes as you can in those 5 hours, and you are constatly lined up against something different. Last time there I raced a Nissan Titan, Ford Mustang, Dodge SRT-4, Chevrolet Camero, Subaru WRX STi, just to name a few. Is there anything like that there, or is it all different class races?

I have a 2005 Ford Mustang GT, 5 speed manual. I ran a 13.6 and the car is stock except for the short throw shifter because the factory one is crap. The track I ran it at is Fayetteville Motorsports Park (http://www.fayettevillemotorsportspark.com/)

Hi James,

welcome to the forum and you can check out the following:

- Test & Tune
April at Jerry Lackey Raceway in Luckau
(south of Berlin and approx. 6 hrs drive from Frankfurt)
www.msto.org

- M.S.T.O. Grand Nationals (Streetcars to Competition)
July 4th at Jerry Lackey Raceway in Luckau

- Thunderdrome and Test & Tune (street legals and dragracers)
August at Rico Anthes Quartermile in Hockenheim
(1hrs drive south of Frankfurt)
www.thunder-drome.de

- NitrOlympX (Streetcars to Top Fuel)
August at Rico Anthes Quartermile in Hockenheim
www.dragster.de

- The 1on1 Motorsport Crew offer quartermile racing
nearly every month in Bitburg check out the website.
www.1on1-motorsports.de

Otherwise you can drive to Holland and race at Drachten with the Explosion organisation, they have 3 races a year with participaters from Germany.

If you are a hardcore racer and want as much track time as possible and don´t mind driving to get to a decent track, then we also have tracks in England, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. And if we are lucky we might have a race in Switzerland again soon.

Check out the following sights for more infos and dates:
www.eurodragster.com
www.santapodraceway.co.uk

Another type of racing you might be interested in is the Street Eliminator Series here in Europe, the German Series of Street Elimination is organised by the german magazine "Dragracer" www.dragracer.de and www.street-eliminator.de

The scene in Germany has been around sind the late 60s but drag racing is no were near the set up in the states. We would like more tracks and more participaters, but it is near to impossible to find investors over here, allthough there is a large community interested in the sport. We have 3 drag racing clubs H.A.R.A., 1.DVD and the BDRC.
In the 70s and 80s we had more events going on but as the years go by it get´s harder instead of easier to organise events. Mostly because of not having the facilities.

Best Regards
Andrea

Well then welcome to Wiesbaden. Look for the Mazda Rx-8 that has the big Velocity sticker on the back window. Good to know I will have a like minded person here.

You may want to run in the german www.dr-mustang.com ET bracket races with your car, just look in the racer forum there.

Welcome to Germany!

I guess there's not much to be added to the list of web addresses that have already been posted ... might want to get in contact with mightymustangs.net, they have quite a few Ford folks on there, both US and German, and often meet up at the track and otherwise ... like e.g. Wounded Soldier Cruise in early May ...

Btw, where in NC are you from?
