Drag racing in Germany revival?? [Archiv]

Ladies and Gentelmen I see that we need a revival of the past with drag racing as it once was in Germany. A aquaintance of mine has been trying to get something going on U.S. army posts in Ansbach, Schweinfurt, or Bamberg. Right now he has a rough fight in front of him because he has very few supporters on "our side" for it. Maybe if we can bring in some support from the "outside" it will convince them that it is a good idea. As far as I know Schweinfurt is only good for 1/8th mile, I do not know about Bamberg or Ansbach. Would anybody show up? All I would like to see from my fellow drag racers is a yay or nay and that would suffice. I would really like to see something happen as we have been trying for awhile but now that I see MZA luckau is done I have renewed motivation.

well at least i know that there are a bunch of people in the south like the customizers east guys who put on their race every other year and that is very well attendend. and any chance to race on a serious basis is highly appreciated by everybody.

Wir wohnen nicht weit weg von Ansbach und selbst Schweinfurt und Bamberg ist relativ nah. Wir würden das sehr begrüssen. Dann könnten wir auch mal zwischendrin am Junior Dragster etwas testen und nicht erst beim Rennen sehen was passiert.

(We live relatively close to all three locations so that we would be there for racing and testing for sure. We have a street camaro 2nd gen. and a junior dragster.)

In Bamberg gibt´s nen kleinen Flugplatz, wo die US-Armee die Hand drauf hat.

Allerdings haben wir dort schon angefragt, das hieß es vom 2. Vorstand des dort ansässigen Segelflugvereines, das das nicht ginge, wegen der Armee...

Allerdings weiß ich natürlich nciht, wie groß die Resonanz ist, da Bamberg ja nicht gerade ne Großstadt ist...

Ob´s überhaupt geht, ist die nächste Frage, aber wenn mans nicht versucht...

Aber einige von uns aus der Gegend würden sofort dort fahren, wir haben das bei uns auch schon öfter diskutiert.

There are houses quite close to the runway,
and this minimzes the chances (in my experience) for having anything noisy on track.

It has been an airport for a long time,and local people got used to aircraft sounds,
but having our kind of noise there on weekends might not be accepted.

Give it a try, nevertheless.

Auf deutsch :
wird schwierig bis unmöglich, zu viele Wohnhäuser zu dicht bei,
die sind zwar an Fluglärm der Sport/Geschäftsflieger gewohnt,
aber unsere Art von Krach, speziell am Wochenende,
könnte denen evtl. nicht gefallen.
Trotzdem mal probieren, was man genehmigt bekommt, kann nicht schaden.

Nun, die Wohnhäuser sind ziemlich entfernt, zudem is die Autobahn gleich nebendran.

Auf der anderen Seite ist ein Industrie-Gebiet, da sollt es kein Problem geben.

Nun, wenn man es nicht versucht, kann man auch nicht sagen, ob´s geklappt hätte.

Einen aktiven US-Flugplatz als Rennstrecke zu bekommen ist nahezu unmöglich ... Sicherheitsrichtlinien verbieten die anderweitige Nutzung, da nach einer artfremden Verwendung eine neue Sicherheitsabnahme notwendig ist ...

Also muss nicht uebersetzt sein, ich verstehe schon genug deutsch schreiben ist aber was anders! :gruebel:
Schweinfurt hat vielleicht eins oder zwei hubschrauber im jahr das da landet, ich denke SW wurde kein problem sein. BA un AN hab ich leider keine ahnung. Ich werde mit meine bekannte am dienstag sprechen. Ich werde viel infos von euch alle brauchen so um die kosten und teilnehmer das vielleicht kommen wurde. Ich hab gesehen das eine ampelanlage kostet um die 20,000 euro. :eek2: (kann ich aber verstehen). Ich glaube es kann schon gehen ich habe das erste car show letztes jahr geplannt und es war gut. Ich weiss das rennen ist ganz anders aber WIR schaffen das!

I think it depends on what you want to do . Racing or test and tune - run what ya brung- .
May be you can rent a timing system for the first events ?

Das ist richtig,

aber in Bamberg starten seit langem keine US-Flugzeuge mehr direkt.

Es gibt dort einiges an zivilem Flugverkehr, vielleicht erleichtert das die Sache etwas...

Wie gehts eure autos? etwas neu?? Ich bin zimlich ueberascht letzte monat wann ich meine koepfe abgebaut hab. Ich bin 13.91 gefahren mit 8.7:1 verdichtete motor! Jetzt kommen neuen kolben im Februar!!

Willst du dir denn eine kaufen oder mieten?

Okay ladies and gentlemen I have fianally gotten a hold of the other person that would like to do this and we are going to meet so that we can draw up a plan. Any ideas would be welcome on how to present this whole thing and make it sound good. I would like to get a petition going on also at least from the soldiers in our communities. Maybe we can do something here as far as counting how many supporters are for this.

The only disadvantage that you have is that your airfields are still in use for airplanes . So you can not prepare the track for bigger cars and no real dragracing . It would be better for German racing if someone can find a track and make some racing for all cars.
But i wish you good luck with your idea.

I think a good 1/8 mile track is better than a slippery 1/4 mile.
Only my opinion.

I will start making a petition from the soldiers here in Schweinfurt and will ask my partner to do the same in Ansbach and Bamberg. Than hopefully we can show the command that there will be support for this. I would also like to start a petition here as well so that they can see other avenues of support.
