Habe eben die NHRO Seite durchgestöbert und festgestellt, in Amerika gibt es 149 Dragsterstrecken,
incl. Puerto Rico 2, Hawaii 3, Mexico 1, Canada 9.
Und hier in Deutschland?

Nur? 3 pro Bundesstaat kommt mir etwas wenig vor ... oder zählen da nur Strecken, die auch für die schnelleren nutzbar sind?

Your list is from NHRA.. there are a handful more "sanctions" in the USA "running"tracks". In the USA you are basically never further away from a racetrack then 50 miles (80 km) .
In Germany there is basically just the MSBD or you are on your own. USA is big so there is room for more players.
I have visited the USA and I have worked in the USA. In my humble opinion there is a real difference in the way sport..or more precisely competition is valued in society,( yes this is a serious reply ;-)
US citizens thrive on competition, they really and truly adore a winner mostly because of the sacrifices this winner had to make to get where he is now.
There is no competition more intense and raw than dragracing. This plugs right into an other US citizens's basic thoughts, namely that of self sustainabilty. In other words: when things take a wrong turn, you will still be able to do your thing. This results in every car/bike lover having his double/triple/quadruple garage stuffed with snap-on/mac tools chests filled to the brim. Does'nt matter if you know how to use those tools, you gottem!!.
Dragracing therefore does not need any advertising at all (to draw in crowds), people are lured to it like magic.
But hey that's the US. We are racing in EU. Goverments are diff. (local and national) but most importantly the audience is diff. They just do not get "high"on perfomance cars/bikes. It looks like they do from the tuning scene, but each and every timeslip on every "street performance etc" teaches us only one thing: dragracing will never be a serious part of car/bike racing in EU. That'my opinion, now come and tell me your's.

Do it like I do, enjoy the races where all racers are welcome and even the spectators honour the efforts we do in preparing our bikes, cars and stuff. My favorite track ic Drachten and my favorite Club is Explosion !!!
We all should hope that German organisators will learn a little bit from 2004 and open their eyes a bit more to our neighbours. That's maybe the way to work together for a bigger "european" competition, otherwise I think german dragracing will go down for bikes.
