Why isn't there a segment for the awsome Stock/Super Stock class?
It's legendary and is one of the most entertaining and fun classes besides Pro Modified!

Stock / Superstock

you will not find a Stock or Super Stock car south of scandinavia (shure in the US) - i also think these are very interesting classes; even in the German drag racing rules you won`t find a single word about these - simply spoken, they are not popular over here.

Björn

Why not, are they to expensive to build, to complicatde to follwo up with tear downs, tech inspections etc?
Don't you have a lot of 60/70:s Muscle cars in Germany, I beleive the Germans would love to watch wheelstanding Stock and Super Stockers, dont ya?

Stock/Super Stock is a part of Speedgroups NDRS-series, I beleive that you soon will see the Stock and Super Stockers in Germany to. I would love to bring mine to Hockenheim...

We do have a lot of classic muscle cars over here, but the developement of dragracing differs alot from that in scandinavia over the years, and the popularity is not nearly compareable as most of us wish it should be.

That is for shure an interesting class . I know that some beetles race in ss in the us with good results . But in Germany there are not much cars to compete :-(

They just started to allow the bugs in SS again, that is very cool!
Do you beleive thatthe interest for S/SS wopuld grow if we brought 6 cars with us to Hockenheim, just to race and show?
There is alot of S/SS cars for sale in US right now...

There is about 100 S/SS cars in Sweden, about 75 of them compete every season :-)

This is a movie that we shot a few years ago...

Jan about Hockenheim you best speak to Jerry Lackey.
S/SST would be something for Drachten in Holland.
They have a hugh interest in street racing cars.
In Germany the just brought up the KOG, King of Germany, where streetlegal cars
run in headsup. Robert Porthorsky from Sweden with his Syclone had a try last year.
For the event at Alkersleben in Germany you an speak to Thorsten Appel aka Scorpion here on the board.

Where can we find the swedish rules for that classes ? I know in the us they have limited weight , carburators . original head castings and engine case ...for the VW's
The good thing is that with those rules the engines do not get so expensive :-)

@ Merlin,

@ Simpson Sweden

The Germans have about 50 (car) Teams total (all Sportsmann classes together) who compete all 5 Races in Germany (1x Hockenheim)/Czech Republic(1x Bechyne) and Holland (3x Drachten).
Hockenheim is a FIA & UEM 3 day event - not enough room for sportsman racing. There is no other track in Germany than Hockenheim.

The rules for S/SS are 100% based on the NHRA rules. Just pick up a book or download and you will know. Keep it simple, follow the guys who have done it for 50 years :-)

Thorsten, I don't understand all that you have written, but in my mind is it more challenging building a 9 second Stocker or a 8 second Super Stocker than building any other Dragrace car with of the shelves parts from Summit or Jegs...
I have the depest respect for thoose guys that been working with their 69 Camaro Stocker for 40 years and now are in the high 9:s...that with no aftermarket parts, no ported heads, stock intake and carburator etc...
I like!
:)

In Sweden alone do we have about 90 races each season. Have you ever considered coming to Sweden for a race?

I know in the us they have different classes , Scott Kelly and Doug gonzales are best competitors at this time . doug races in SS/VX for example and set a new record at Phoenix of 10,9.. They run superstreet cars with smaller engines . Most original modyfied parts. that makes it a little cheaper and like Thorsten sayed it takes more experience and knowledgement to make those engines fast. That is very interesting . A Superstreet engine for a beetle costs about 25000-30000 euros. An engine like that would be from 15000 up :-)
I will look for the rules ...

LOL, I guess you have never priced a competitive "stock" engine build. I think a competitive stock V8 engine frrom Tilburg will run upwards of 20K.

BTW, I think S/SS racing is great! Small tires, wheelstands and no cut up shyt boxes. But I am also a fan of bracket racing. I think most people are simply interested in heads up racing and don't understand bracket racing and its principles.

Because of this we can be lucky to have the proet class in germany . But headsup like the ss class would be a good alternate :-)

Jan we like to race in Sweden and give it a try this year from 3 events.
But it will be SuperComp. Nevertheless all you guys in Scandinavia have set up is racers heaven in Europe.
I hope it will work out for us and if we can find a place to leave truck and trailer it will be a great idea.
Time's gonna tell.

Na merkste was?
Warum?

UDO, You must come to Sweden and Finland and compete then!
At the major races are we between 20-36 cars in S/SS so the competition and the SHOW is great!
But make sure that your cars are S/SS legal, because if they arn't will you be disqualified...Don't hesitate to ask, we will guide you. Have you seen the Swedish S/SS message board (http://forum.sssa.se/yabb2/YaBB.pl)
Most guys put in about €50-100.000 in their cars, so they are dead serious...the top players have about €150.000+ invested in their S/SS cars so the competition is crazy...AND FUN!

This is the calendar were you will find the best S/SS racing:
7-8 Maj, Tierp, Arena, Sweden
5-6 June, Alastaro, Finland
9-12 June, Tierp, Sweden
1-4 July, Alastaro, Finland
15-17 July, Fällfors, Sweden
29/7-1 Aug, Mantorp, Sweden
12-14 Aug, Hockenheim, Germany
28-29/ Aug, Alastaro, Finland

I Hope you will join us!
